On this page you will find information relating to the processes to be adopted when looking to fill a vacancy with a temporary worker.

We recognise there are times NSS will require Agency Workers to fill vacancies on a temporary basis.

    NHS 24

For agency worker requests authorisation please see the Recruitment Process section.

Hiring managers must ensure any new agency worker completes the below confidentiality form on their first day and and forwards the signed copy to the recruitment team at recruitment@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk.  This is the hiring managers responsibility to ensure completion. In addition, if an agency worker intends to use their personal vehicle when travelling on NHS 24 business, they are required to complete a Authorised Car User Form CMV2 prior to travel.

    Scottish Ambulance Service

Recruitment to temporary posts require the Service to use a list of preferred suppliers as agreed through the current Scottish Government framework for the recruitment of professional services - Temporary and Interim Staff.

Full details of the Frameworks can be found at - https://www.gov.scot/publications/temporary-and-interim-staff-services-frameworks/

In terms of permanent vacancies, advice should first be sought from the Recruitment Team.  This method of recruitment should be used only in exceptional circumstances or if all other options have been exhausted. It must be noted that costs for this particular option can be prohibitive and funding must be authorised via the Vacancy Approval process and paid for by the individual budget holder.  The normal recruitment, assessment and pre-employment criteria must be strictly adhered to, even if using this option.

We encourage our current agency workers to apply for internal posts.  Please visit the vacancies page here.
